Usage

mastic gives a dense and compact joint without risk of discolouring. mastic is a dry product which can be used after mixing with water. The grout is easy to work with and the joint is easily filled. Where extra dense joints are required mix also with 4300 flex.

Product description

Cement based, frostproof and waterproof grout in power form.

Application areas

For grouting of tiles/ceramic clinker on floors and walls, indoor and outdoor, in wet and dry areas.

Tile types

mastic can be applied to all types of ceramic tiles and natural stone. Specially applicable where smooth and fine joint is required.

Pre-treatment of substrate

Joints and tiles must be clean, free from dust, oil, dirt, grease and the like.

Application

15 kg power to be mixed with 3.9 - 4.2 litre of clean water or 4300 flex and water in relation 1 part flex to 5 parts water applied on wooden based substrates and 1 part flex to 8 parts of water on other substrates where extra dense joint is required. When the grout is mixed with 4300 flex and water the liquid part shall be increased to approx. 4.5 litre liquid to 15 kg powder. Use a glue mixer on a slow revolving hand drilling machine in order to avoid mixing air into the grout. Make sure powder, mixing liquid and substrate are within the recommended working temperature.

Mix 2 - 3 minutes to a lumpfree mass.

The grout is now ready for use and can be applied in 6 hours after mixing.

The grout shall be worked properly into the joint with a rubber spatula or grouting trowel which is drawn diagonally over the joints. When the grout in the joint is surface-dry but still workable, the excess grout on the tiles shall be loosened with a moistened padmaster/sponge. The tiles surface is then cleaned with hard wringed sponge/Wash Boy and the joints are finally shaped. The surface is polished and cleaned for excessive water film and laitance.

Avoid wind, draught and heat exposure from eg. sunlight and underfloor heating during construction and curing time. Underfloor heating can be started slowly after 7-8 days.

After 2 days the joint can be cleaned for any hardened grout slurry using 7120 ceramic cleaner.

Dependant of the suction ability of the tiles and room tem- perature the grouted tile surface can withstand light walking traffic/load after 24 hours and maximum loading after 7 days.

Working hygienic conditions

The product contains cement. Working hygienic rules for cement must be followed.

mastic is based on white cement containing a natural low content of chrome (VI) therefore the limiting value of max 2 mg/kg will always be kept.

Packaging

5 kg bags and 15 kg plastic strengthened paper bags with handle grips.

Storage and transportation

Transport and store dry. Product keeps technical specification minimum 12 months after production date in unopened packaging. Can be used hereafter; technical properties may, however, change; e.g. setting time may be extended.
