Detailed description

Usage

z-fix excellent is based on white low alkaline cement that is easy to prepare and distribute on tiling surface and which makes cleaning the tools easy. Recommended for transparent, translucent stone and glass mosaic. High bond strength ensures no vertical slip.

This adhesive is extra light and covers more than 35% bigger area than traditional tile adhesives.

Product description

Cement based, frostproof, water resistent, extra light and flexible, white tile adhesive in low dust powder form.

Application areas

For mounting of all types of ceramic tiles, clinker and natural stones, inside and outside, for floor and wall, in wet and dry areas. Suitable for heated floor and thin translucent tiles, glass mosaic, light marble and similar elements. Extremely good adhesion to dense tiles and clinkers.

Types of substrate

Floors and walls with tension/deformation as plastered brick work, block walls, gypsum plaster plates, concrete elements and light concrete elements with large shrinkage, movements and deformation.

Pre-treatment of substrate

Ensure substrate has carrying capacity, is sound and coherent, cleaned for dust, grease and laitance. Substrate must be so dry that 4180 primer can be absorbed in the surface.

When mounting on old tiling and painted surfaces ensure that tiles or paint stick to surface. Clean surface for grease etc. with 7110 base cleaner.

Absorbent substrates shall be primed with 4180 primer and in wetrooms be water tightened according to applying building regulations and mira installation instructions for wetrooms.

Application

10 kg powder to be mixed with 4.0-4.2 l clean water to a lump free mixture ready to use. The powder, water and substrate shall be within recommended working temperature 8-16°C. Especially for large format tiles for floors quantity of water can be increased to max. 5 liters per. bag. Use mixing paddle on drill.

The adhesive can be applied within approx. 6 hours after mixing. Care must be taken that tiles are fixed within open time to avoid formation of skin on adhesive surface.

z-fix excellent is applied to substrate with smooth side of a notched trowel and combed through with notched side. Follow recommendation for correct choice of tooth size for tile type and substrate.

The tiles are pressed/twisted in place in wet adhesive. Ensure that backside of tile is fully covered.

Avoid wind, draught and heat exposure from eg. sunlight and underfloor heating during construction and curing time. Underfloor heating can be started slowly after 7-8 days.

For critical tasks such as outdoor balconies, facades, swimming pools etc. it may be necessary to apply adhesives on both substrate and tile in order to achieve 100% coverage (buttering).

Areas over 36 m2 and areas of a length above 8 m shall normally be divided in areas with expansion joints across the construction.

Dependent on absorbing capacity of tiles and room temperature tiling is ready to be grouted after approx. 10 hours for walls and 18 hours for floors.

Working environment

The product contains cement. Working environment rules for cement must be followed.

z-fix excellent is based on white cement containing a natural low content of chrome (VI) therefore the limiting value of max. 2mg/kg is always kept.

Reference the product safety data sheet.

Packaging

10 kg plastic strengthened paper bags with handle.

Storage and transportation

Transport and store dry. Product will maintain technical specifications minimum 12 months from production date in unopened packing. Can be used hereafter technical properties may, however, change; e.g. setting time may be extended.
